Doctor Resume Format (MBBS, MD, MS)
Hospitals read a doctor’s CV for three things first: your medical council registration, where you trained, and what you have actually done on the ward. This format puts those at the top, in the order HR and medical superintendents expect.
Example Doctor resume
MBBS doctor with 3 years of emergency and general medicine experience at a 300-bed multi-speciality hospital. Comfortable leading resuscitation, managing ward patients independently and keeping clean medico-legal records. BLS and ACLS certified.
- Manage 40+ casualty patients per shift, stabilising and referring critical cases within protocol
- Lead first response for code blue calls, performing CPR and airway management as per ACLS
- Prepare MLC documentation and coordinate with police for medico-legal cases
- Handled admissions, daily rounds and discharge summaries for a 30-bed medicine ward
- Performed IV cannulation, ABG sampling, Ryle’s tube and Foley catheter insertion
Emergency management · Triage · ECG interpretation · ABG interpretation · IV cannulation · Suturing · Intubation · Medico-legal documentation · EMR / HIS
English · Hindi · Marathi
The person and numbers in this example are made up. Your own resume can use any of the four designs and seven colours.
What to include, in this order
- 1Name, job title and contact details
- 2Professional Summary
- 3Registration & Licences
- 4Work Experience
- 5Clinical Rotations & Internship
- 6Education
- 7Clinical Skills & Procedures
- 8Certifications
Tips from healthcare hiring
- Put your medical council name and registration number near the top. Many hospitals will not shortlist a CV without it.
- List rotations with the department and duration (for example, General Medicine, 3 months). Interviewers ask about them.
- Name the procedures you can do independently. "Performed 50+ IV cannulations" says more than "good clinical skills".
- Keep NEET-PG or other exam scores only if they are recent and help the role you are applying for.
- One to two pages is enough for most medical officer and resident roles. Consultants with publications can go longer.
Example summary
MBBS doctor with 3 years of experience in emergency and general medicine at a 300-bed multi-speciality hospital. Comfortable leading resuscitation, managing ward patients independently and keeping clean medico-legal records. Registered with the State Medical Council and BLS / ACLS certified.
Doctor resume format for freshers
No work experience yet? Keep your resume to one page and let your degree and training carry it:
- Contact details and the job title you are applying for
- A two or three line summary of what you trained in
- Education, with your score
- Clinical Rotations & Internship: where, how long, what you did
- Skills you can actually do, then certifications
- Registration number, or “registration in process”
A fresher summary you can adapt:
MD (General Medicine) with 5 years of inpatient and ICU experience, managing 20+ patients a day across medicine wards and critical care. Interested in a consultant role where clinical depth and clear patient communication matter.

Build my Doctor resumeQuestions about the Doctor resume format
What is the best resume format for an MBBS doctor?+
A reverse-chronological format with your registration details at the top, then experience, internship rotations, education, procedures and certifications. Keep it to one or two pages for medical officer and junior resident roles.
Should a doctor’s CV include a photo?+
Many Indian hospitals still accept or expect a photo, but it is not required, and corporate or international employers often prefer none. The Jobslly templates leave it out so the CV stays clean and ATS-friendly.
How do I write a doctor CV with no experience after internship?+
Lead with your compulsory rotating internship: list each posting, the duration and what you handled. Add procedures, BLS / ACLS, any research or CME, and a short summary of the department you want to work in.
