Job Summary
This is a full-time, field-based Medical Science Liaison position based in Mumbai and part of the Medical Affairs function at AbbVie. The position focuses on Oncology and involves creating scientific relationships with thought leaders and healthcare professionals, supporting research and educational initiatives, contributing to clinical and medical projects, and conveying scientific knowledge in a non-promotional manner.
Key Responsibilities
Provide scientific and technical knowledge in Oncology, including building credible relationships with key external specialists and healthcare professionals.
Serve as the Medical Affairs contact point for external experts to respond to their scientific information needs within the therapeutic area of responsibility.
Participate in relevant cross-functional account planning, and develop and execute scientific interaction and cycle strategies.
Utilize Veeva CRM and related tools to properly capture and document healthcare professional interactions and insights.
Support of research, educational activities and requests for medical and scientific information to enhance AbbVie’s scientific presence in academic centers.
Presentations of scientific updates and contributions to scientific & technical advancement to support internal sales, marketing and affiliate brand teams.
Cultivate therapy champions with continued engagement. Establish ongoing scientific collaborations with external experts.
Assist in starting, monitoring and following up on assigned GMA studies and medical projects, including registry/database projects, epidemiological studies and post-authorization studies when necessary.
Support of targeted clinical interventional studies conducted by Clinical Development Operations, including study start visits and subject matter knowledge where applicable.
Act as a liaison between external experts and local or global medical teams to facilitate investigator-initiated study ideas and support requests.
Present scientific data to individual physicians or groups of physicians, and participate in pertinent scientific meetings and conferences.
Provide support for access requests for AbbVie medicines through named-patient and/or compassionate-use programs, when needed and in accordance with applicable legislation.
Support internal medical and clinical teams and thought leaders scientifically and technically for important scientific or medical publications.
All actions will be carried out in compliance with applicable laws, rules, guidelines, codes of conduct, corporate policies and acknowledged standards of practice.
Educational Qualification
MBBS/MD
Candidates with an undergraduate degree and related oncology experience will also be evaluated.
MDS, BDS, MDS or Pharm.D candidates with experience might be considered.
Skills Required
Deep awareness of the pharmaceutical landscape and the role of Medical Affairs.
Understanding of scientific methodologies in clinical research.
Knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory requirements regarding clinical research is a plus.
Ability to quickly learn and grasp new subject areas and work situations.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Good presenting skills to communicate scientific findings to physicians and other stakeholders.
Ability to develop and sustain collaborative connections with thought leaders, physicians and healthcare decision makers.
Strong dedication to compliance, quality and scientific integrity.
Salary Structure
The anticipated compensation range for a Medical Science Liaison – Oncology in India is ₹9-12 Lakhs per annum.
