Job Summary
The ward pharmacists are responsible for dispensing medicines and medical consumables in the hospital environment. The selected professional will be responsible for ensuring the availability of stock, keeping the pharmacy registers, handling medication-related documents and complying with the procedures for dispensing. The work also involves liaising with healthcare providers on prescriptions, adverse drug reactions, patient concerns and medication safety. The work involves maintaining regulatory compliance, assisting pharmacy audits and ensuring organized inventory management.
Key Responsibilities
Distribute prescribed medicines and pharmaceutical consumables in line with physicians’ prescriptions, hospital protocols and applicable regulations.
Conduct monthly stock checks in hospital wards and maintain adequate inventory levels in the pharmacy.
Organize and distribute medicines and consumables on a First-In, First-Out (FIFO) basis.
Ensure pharmaceutical storage conditions, stock availability and inventory records comply with approved pharmacy guidelines .
Enter Goods Receipt Note (GRN) bills into the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) and inform the concerned team for any difference in drug costs.
Follow up on patients’ subsequent pharmaceutical purchases based on their prescriptions.
Provide provide ADR reporting forms to doctors and collaborate with healthcare experts on medication issues and accidents.
Maintain pharmacy registrations and paperwork and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and incident reports.
During stock review & audit, identify slow moving, non-moving & near expiry drugs and take needed action as per hospital regulations.
Educational Qualification
B.Pharm (Bachelor of Pharmacy) or D.Pharm (Diploma in Pharmacy).
You should have an active registration/license with Karnataka Pharmacy Council.
Minimum 1-2 years experience in retail pharmacy or hospital formulary operation.
Skills Required
Ability to compute pharmaceutical dosages and monitor rates of drug consumption mathematically.
Knowledge of pharmaceutical procurement, storage, maintenance of stocks and inventory management.
Understanding of dispensing protocols, prescription verification, and pharmaceutical safety.
Good oral communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to solve problems and answer patient questions and give suitable advice.
Ability to work well with doctors, nurses, pharmacy colleagues and other hospital departments.
Attention to detail in the management of prescriptions, drug labels, expiry dates, stock records and invoicing documents.
Ability to organize work, keep accurate records and independently manage obligations as required.
Salary Structure
The average annual salary of a Clinical Pharmacist- Narayana Health in India is ₹3.5–4.5 Lakhs per year
