Job Summary 

The profile is of a pharmacist at Dr. Kamakshi Memorial Hospital, Pallikaranai. The pharmacist will be required to dispense medicines in a timely manner, thoroughly review the prescriptions, and provide proper and clear counselling to the patients. The duties also include managing inventory and working with the vendor in accordance with NABH and other pharmacy regulations. The pharmacist will work along with the doctors and nurses in case of any inquiries regarding medications. Freshers as well as applicants with an experience of 1 to 5 years are welcome.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately dispense medication in accordance with the legal prescriptions.

  • Check to make sure that the prescription in hand is complete and formulated at the needed dosage, with no interactions and no contraindications with the use of drugs.

  • Provide counseling on medicines to patients.

  • Ensure that the dispensing and registration of all medication and controlled drugs comply with the legislation.

  • Store the medications in proper conditions, such as labeling and marking.

  • Almost all medications should be carefully received from the supplier.

  • Participate in stocktaking and check control.

  • Comply with the standards established by NABH, the Pharmacy Act, and the Drugs and Cosmetics.

  • Communicate with health professionals regarding medications.

  • Report the side effects of medications and mistakes while dispensing medications.

  • Keep the pharmacy tidy and organized.

  • Complete appropriate paperwork and submit timely reports as related to pharma work.

  • Take part in the enhancement of the services provided and programs targeted at the protection of patients.

Educational Qualification 

  • A Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) or a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) is mandatory for this role.

  • A valid State Pharmacy Council registration is also required.

  • Freshers and candidates with 1 to 5 years of hospital or retail pharmacy experience are preferred.

Skills Required 

  • Provide drug dispensing according to the legal prescriptions.

  • Make sure that the prescription in hand is complete and prepared in the right quantities of dose and shows no interaction with the use of medicines.

  • Offer advice on the drugs supplied to the patients.

  • Make sure that the dispensing and recording of drugs are done in accordance with the law.

  • Store medicines properly, that is, labeled and signed.

  • Watch the expiry date of the drugs and remove expired or damaged medicines.

  • Maintain a proper quantity of medicines with you and report the pharmacy purchases when necessary.
