 Job Summary 

This remote job in India is for a writer who can manage scientific and medical communication projects on their own. The Principal Medical Writer creates manuscripts, abstracts, posters, slide decks, literature reviews and other communication materials while making sure they are correct, reliable, of quality and in line with the client's strategy. The role also includes working with clients, authors, editors, account teams and other people involved while helping writers by reviewing their work and offering guidance.

 Key Responsibilities 

  • Create medical communication content such as manuscripts, abstracts, posters, presentations, digital materials and printed items based on what the client needs.

  • Understand medical information, including clinical trial protocols, statistical methods, regulatory documents and data displays.

  • Organize, combine, set priorities. Show data in a visual way for different groups of people.

  • Check written work carefully for accuracy, consistency, details and proofreading including materials written by writers.

  • Work with clients, authors, account teams, editors, creative teams, production teams and other people to decide the direction and outline of a project.

  • Make feedback from authors and other people is properly included in the project results.

  • Make sure all references and notes are complete to support checking the facts and keeping accuracy.

  • Create materials for review when needed.

  • Show the communication strategies for one or more clients.

  • Gain knowledge in 2 to 4 disease areas.

  • Take part in meetings with clients, authors and other people.

  • Follow the clients rules, templates and internal quality standards for the work.

  • Help people and other team members when needed.

  • Handle projects and tight deadlines while making sure work is done on time.

  • Find problems with a project let the right people know about them and suggest solutions.

  • Take part in activities like boards creating meeting slides writing meeting summaries and going to meetings when asked.

 

 Educational Qualification 

Candidates must have an academic degree in health sciences such as: PhD/ MD/ PharmD/ M. Pharm/ MBBS/ M. Science/ Another similar advanced health-sciences degree

The position requires 4 to 6 years of experience.

 Skills Required 

  • Experience in creating medical communication materials

  • Ability to understand medical data

  • Knowledge of publication practice rules

  • Good skills in analyzing, proofreading and paying attention to details

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Familiar with PubMed and/or EMBASE

  • Experience with referencing and scientific visualization tools

  • Strong skills in working with people and managing relationships with stakeholders

  • Ability to explain information to groups and in different ways

  • Strong skills in managing tasks and projects

  • Ability to work on their own in a setting with deadlines and a team

  • ISMPP CMPP certification is a plus. Not required.
