 Job Summary 

This is a full-time position. The selected applicant will be responsible for the management of pharmacy services, inventory control, procurement, supplier co-ordination, regulatory compliance and staff supervision. This is a quality control role for medicines, assisting with hospital audits, cost control and liaising with clinical departments to ensure the right medicines are available at the right time. Preference would be given to those having experience in Tertiary Care Hospitals.

 

 Key Responsibilities 

  • Supervise daily pharmacy operations ensuring correct dispensing, handling and distribution of medicines to different sections of hospital.

  • Develop, implement and review standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain consistency in pharmacy practice.

  • Ensure proper storage, handling, security and quality of pharmaceutical goods in accordance with applicable requirements.

  • Directs pharmacists, pharmacy assistants and interns and participate in staff training, mentoring and operational success.

  • Keep up to date with NABH, JCI and related drug control requirements. Assist with pharmacy and supply-chain audits.

  • Assist with the preparation of the pharmacy budget, monitor expenditure, identify possibilities to reduce costs and advise management of significant cost variances.

  • Work with doctors, clinical teams and other hospital departments to make that important medicines are available and the delivery of drugs is smooth.

  • Evaluate supplier performance, improve vendor relationships and assist in maintaining pharmaceutical operations that continue to run smoothly and reliably.

 
Educational Qualification 

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) is compulsory.

 
Skills Required 

  • Experience in inventory control, stock checking, expiry tracking, and pharmaceutical distribution systems.

  • Understanding of pharmaceutical purchasing, supplier management, price negotiation and purchasing processes.

  • Experience with ERP and supply-chain management solutions including but not limited to SAP, Oracle, Mediware or McKesson.

  • Knowledge of drug formulary management, prescription utilization reviews and cost control techniques.

  • Knowledge of NABH, JCI, ISO and related pharmaceutical legislation.

  • Management of medicine shortages and provision of emergency purchase when required.

  • Leadership and team management skills comprising, staff supervision, training and mentoring.

  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical quality assurance, quality control and audit methods.

 Salary Structure 

The average salary of a Senior Pharmacist in India is between ₹5 Lakhs to ₹7.5 Lakhs per year.
